Music Theory & Ear Training

These multi-level group classes are designed to teach students, through a sequential curriculum, basic rhythms, scales, intervals, harmony, sight-singing, dictation, and simple composition. Beginner-level class focuses on the basic musicianship including rhythm and note-reading. Intermediate to advanced-level classes explore scales, intervals, sight-singing, harmony and simple composition. The curriculum is based on the requirements for The Music Development Program.

LEVELS COURSE DESCRIPTION QUALIFICATIONS

Musicianship Courses (Grade 2-5)

 

  • Improve note reading, listening & rhythmic skills
  • Explore sight-reading & sight-singing skills
  • Identify and understand basic music terminology, scales, & intervals
  • Grade 2-5
  • Students who are preparing for The Music Development Program, level 1-2

Junior Courses (Grade 6-9)
