Alison Soccio received her master's degree in Music and Music Education from Teachers College, Columbia University and her bachelor’s degree in music education from Syracuse University. Ms. Soccio is certified to teach music to children from birth to grade 12. She currently teaches elementary general music at Ridge Elementary School in Ridgewood, NJ. Previously, she has taught music at the Rita Gold Early Childhood Center in New York, NY; the River School daycare in Jersey City, NJ; and done various teaching and researching throughout the state of New York. Ms. Soccio also has been a teaching assistant for the New York Philharmonic’s Very Young People’s Concerts. Her research on the relationship between culture and musical play in early childhood has been presented at the Educating the Creative Mind Conference at Kean University and is currently being prepared for publication. In addition to teaching, Alison is a flutist and plays with friends and colleagues at various venues throughout New York City. |
