Areté Certificate Program is open to all students enrolling in private lessons. Students may choose to enroll in a full-year program (32 weeks) or a semester program (16 weeks). The comprehensive program consists of three core components that are vital to a child’s music education:
Private lessons are available in 30, 45, and 60 minutes in length. New students have the opportunity to meet with the director or the department head for consultation. Assignment of teacher is determined based on the student’s needs, goals, past experience, and availability. Whenever possible, students will be placed with the teacher of their choice.
Music Theory & Ear TrainingClasses
Areté Certificate Program offers students the opportunity to earn a certificate for completing each level of musicianship classes. The weekly group classes are designed to help students to read fluently, hear accurately, and understand the fundamental elements in music. As students progress through the sequential and leveled curriculum, they develop music literacy and appreciation for music in general. These group classes also allow students to interact and work with their peers. Class placements are based on student’s age and level.
Performance Opportunities
Performance is a core component of music study at Areté and there are several opportunities throughout the year for every level of study. Students in the Areté Certificate Program are expected to participate in a public performance at least once a semester. Students may participate, with teacher’s permission, in more than one performance each semester. Please contact the office for more information.
For the student to earn a certificate, the following criteria must be met: regular attendance, demonstrated effort, and artistic progress.
