Bassist Nathaniel Chase, a graduate of the Yale School of Music, is active as a freelancer throughout the Tri-state area. His performances range from early music to the standard orchestral repertoire with Ensemble 212 and the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, to chamber music with the Harlem Bass Quartet and contemporary music with the Lucerne Festival and the Mimesis Ensemble. Mr. Chase is the conductor of the Really Terrible Orchestra of Westchester, a White Plains based community orchestra, and has appeared as a conductor with the Mimesis Ensemble and on the New England Conservatory Composers' Series. He is a graduate of the New England Conservatory and was a winner of the 2010 Yale School of Music Concerto Competition. Mr. Chase has taught music theory and solfège as an assistant at the Yale School of Music and New England Conservatory. As a teacher he seeks to impart a fluent understanding of musical fundamentals, an increased awareness of the efficient and safe use of the body, and the joy of music making to his students.
