The Early Childhood Music Program at Areté Music Academy offers an extensive selection of classes to young children and their families. At AMA we believe that it is crucial to provide developmentally appropriate music education to children at a young age. Through singing, listening, moving, instrument playing, and other guided activities these classes lay the groundwork for further musical study as well as a lifelong involvement in music and the arts.

Led by Alison Soccio, an expert in early childhood music and a master’s candidate of Teachers College at Columbia University, our Early Childhood Music Program emphasizes on nurturing children's innate musical abilities and caters to the individual musical backgrounds of each of the children enrolled.

Each lesson is tailored to be developmentally appropriate for the children enrolled and to address each child’s musical background and needs. Caregivers will also receive communication from the teacher each week regarding what was done in each class and why. This class is a great way to introduce your child to the musical world.

Each week the children will experience new instruments through exploration and listening. This class will also lay the foundation for and introduce musical notation. Children will have the opportunity to explore a variety of woodwind, brass, string, and percussion instruments throughout their time in this class.  Each lesson is tailored to be developmentally appropriate for the children enrolled and to address each child’s musical background and needs. Caregivers will also receive communication from the teacher each week regarding what was done in each class and why. This class is a great way to discover which instrument your child might like to study.

All early childhood classes meet for 10 weeks each semester, 45 minute per class. For your child’s safety, a parent or a caregiver must be present in every class with the student.

Group class enrollments are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Mid-year enrollments are possible for selected classes; please contact the office for details. Areté Music Academy reserves the right to cancel classes due to insufficient enrollment or unforeseen circumstances. In the event a class is cancelled, you will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another class. If you do not enroll in another class, you will receive a full refund.
