CLASS SCHEDULE new!
MUSIC THROUGH STORYTELLING Ages 2 - 3.5
This “parent & me” class provides developmentally appropriate music training for children of ages 2 to 3.5. Through storytelling, singing, listening, moving, and other guided activities, these classes lay the groundwork for further musical study as well as a lifelong involvement in music. (Time: 35 minutes)
MEET THE INSTRUMENTS Ages 3.5 - 6
This class will introduce different instruments on alternate weeks, such as violin, cello, guitar, flute, saxophone, trombone and drums. Through hands-on experience, students will have opportunities to develop an awareness of the distinctions among different instrument families. Class curriculum also includes singing, listening, movements, and storytelling. (Time: 45 minutes)
MUSIC, ART & LITERATURE Ages 4 - 6
Our popular summer program is now available during the school year! Students will be immersed in hands-on experience of music, literature, and art. Through structured musical activities, storytelling and creative art making, students learn to express and develop their individuality and imagination. (Time: 45 minutes)
PIANO FOR BEGINNERS (Level 1-3) Ages 4-6 & 6-8
Piano for beginners is a 3-level group piano program for young beginners. Classes will introduce and focus on finger coordination, proper hand position, basic theory, music reading, and ear training. Students who have completed all three levels might be qualified to perform at Arete's student concert with teacher’s recommendation. Enrollment is limited to 4 students per class. (Level 1: 30 minutes each; Level 2/3: 45 minutes each)
VIOLIN FOR BEGINNERS Ages 4-6, 6-8, & 9-11
Violin for beginners is a group class designed for young beginners to learn in an interactive environment. Led by Juilliard violinist and teaching artist, students will learn through hands-on experience in the weekly 30-minute session. Parent's participation in classes are recommended. (Time: 30 minutes)
BAND INSTRUMENTS WORKSHOP
Led by experienced hand instrument specialist, this 10-week workshop emphasizes on helping students to improve their technical and performance skills so they can excel in school band. All brass and woodwind instruments are welcome. (Time: 45 minutes)
