Brandon-Essig

Originally from River Vale, New Jersey, drummer/singer Brandon Essig began playing drums at age 8. He studied drums with famed jazz drummer Marc Dicciani at Philadelphia’s University of the Arts. During his time at UArts, Mr. Essig began performing in its bucket-drum ensemble, Rumble, where he worked his way up to co-arranger of its music, as well as teaching its members. He has also studied classical singing prior to attending a university with Juilliard’s Michael Connelly, and with tenor Paul Adkins while at UArts.

Since graduating, Mr. Essig has taught drum lessons privately throughout New Jersey and New York and also teaches drums at PY Rock Music School in Elizabeth, NJ. Mr. Essig has also done musical therapy work with New York-based company Sounding Circles and has worked on professional musical theater productions, both as a percussionist in the pit (Hair, Players Guild of Leonia) and as an actor/singer onstage (Bend in the Road, NYMF). He regularly plays drums in his band, The Permanent Revolution, in the Brooklyn/Manhattan area.
