Guitarist Daniel Ortega has established himself as one of the leading musicians of his country. Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Daniel is a top prize winner of several classical guitar competitions including the II SONO International Guitar Competition, Ecuador. Daniel holds a Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance from the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University and a Master’s Degree from the Manhattan School of Music.
Daniel has vast pedagogical experience teaching guitar students of different levels and backgrounds. During his undergraduate studies, he served as faculty of the Schwob School of Music Preparatory Division. Daniel has also taught masterclasses at several guitar festivals including the VII ETHOS International Guitar Festival, and is the Founder and Artistic Director of the Caribbean International Guitar Festival. In addition to Areté Academy, Daniel is also currently on the faculty at the Washington Heights Community Conservatory of Fine Arts.
