Soprano Kaitlyn Barnes joined Areté Academy in the summer of 2012, and has been the head teacher for Arete's Summer Enrichment Programs and Early Childhood Music Programs since 2013. Prior to working at Areté Music Academy, Ms. Barnes was a Team Leader for Jumpstart, Assistant Director of the Village of Wappingers Falls Summer Camp, and an Assistant teacher at Happy Hours Daycare in Hopewell Junction, New York.
In 2012, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Vocal Performance from SUNY New Paltz, where she was the recipient of the Barbara Hardgrave Voice Scholarship and recognized as an outstanding graduate 2012. She earned her Master of Arts in Music Education at Teachers College, Columbia University.
In 2015, Ms. Barnes won the NY State Division of Music Teachers National Competition and went on to regionals where she placed second overall. Past roles include Monica in Giancarlo Menotti’s The Medium, Dido in Henry Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, and Rosalinda in Johann Strauss' Die Fledermaus.
