A native of Taiwan, cellist Li-Ling Wang is also the co-founder and the executive director of Arete Music Academy. She holds a master and a bachelor of music degrees in cello performance from The Juilliard School where she was a pupil of the late cello master Harvey Shapiro. Prior to founding Arete Music Academy she has performed chamber music regularly with her peers and has given solo recitals in Japan, Taiwan, and New York.
Ms. Wang began her musical studies at the age of 4 on piano and cello at 8. She was accepted to Juilliard's Pre-College Division at the age of 16. She teaches students of age 9 and up and believes that students who want to play cello should have some basic keyboard skills. Her favorite composers are Brahms, Schumann and Rachmaninoff.
