Lucas Pullin

Born in Caçapava, Brazil, classical guitarist Lucas Pullin began his musical studies on organ and piano at the age of nine and guitar at 13. He enrolled in the Souza-Lima Conservatory at age 15 for two years, which led him to the São Paulo State University where he received his bachelor’s degrees in conducting and composition. He then came to New York and studied guitar with Sharon Isbin at The Juilliard School where he completed his master of music degree in guitar performance in 2012. In 2013, he received his postgraduate studies from Manhattan School of Music where he studied with Mark Delprioa. 

Mr. Pullin joined the faculty of Areté Music Academy in early 2013. Prior to joining Areté. he has had more than six years of teaching experience in both private and group settings. Currently, he teaches classical guitar, acoustic guitar, guitar workshop, and music theory at Areté Music Academy. He has also prepared some of his students for college entrance auditions as well as The Music Development Program. In 2015, one of his classical guitar students at Areté Music Academy won the National Gold Medal in the MDP which was awarded to students achieving the highest mark in the country.  

As a performing artist, Mr. Pullin frequently collaborates with other chamber musicians in New York City and has recently returned from a tour in New Orleans area with his duo. In Brazil he was the first artist to perform in Movimento Violão which is considered one of the most important guitar concert series in Brazil. Mr. Pullin has participated in many music festivals, including Interpretation of Spanish Songs, New York Guitar Seminar, Poços de Caldas Festival, and Brasilia Summer Festival.
